Collection: Encaustic Paintings

Encaustic is one of the oldest and most durable painting mediums.  This ancient painting process utilizes molten beeswax, damar resin, and oil pigments.  The Egyptians and Greeks used this medium historically to paint murals, portraits and ships.

Encaustic painting involves many layers fused together with a blow torch and heat gun to create a depth and ethereal translucency that is unique to encaustic art.  The process I've developed incorporates plaster, acrylic paints, encaustic medium and oil pigments to recreate the depth, texture and luminosity of abstract coastal landscapes.

To protect the luminous finish, paintings should be buffed with a clean, soft cloth and should not be hung in direct sunlight.
